Great to hear that you've managed to recover it! That's the one problem about digital photos I've found. It's so easy to accidently do something and make them vanish forever! At least I have to physically destroy both the negatives and prints when using normal film.
Just remember to mount the drive on the wall somewhere as a reminder to make backups
