He's had his Teg Type-R for a couple of years now, but I tend to agree with him. I tried to run my 172 in according to the handbook but the temptation to boot it was just too great, things really got interesting after 3500 rpm. In the case of my Smart there was no 'running in' period mentioned. Surely in the these days of engine management systems if it was really that important it could temporarily reduce the rev limiter to 4000 RPM for the first x hundred miles.
