Mmm. Looking inside jemplode.jar, one can see that the code seems to be present for both SSDP (karma) and "IDiscovery" (empeg?) -- so somehow it's choosing not to run the other protocol here. A network trace proves this point (no normal empeg discovery is ever attempted, only the SSDP crap).
