I really want to avoid getting into this situation, I want my client to be a little surprised I went to the trouble to do this, but at the same time I don't want to carry too much gear and spend too much time. I'm sorry that'll just sound shit. You'll have no control over how much background noise (not atmos) makes it into the recording. Seriously, if that solution yielded satisfactory results don't you think everyone would do it that way? The likes of Sony and Sennheiser wouldn't sell any microphones!
