Hi,

I have just taken delivery of a '92 Caprice (ex-police, big bastard!) and am sorting out the radio etc. (as well as other stuff to make it UK legal). Can anyone provide me with the pinouts of the radio connection, I have attached a photo of the connector.

Cheers,

Gareth

Check at Install Dr. In fact, I think the exact information you want is in this PDF.

Excellent - thank you! I did quite a bit of searching on Google but I think it must be such common information no-one mentions it! I remember that site now, useful resource.

Cheers,

It's a bit of a mess at the moment - I paid $1800 for it on seeing some photos (http://www.iroc.info/photos/9c1/) and $1800 for trucking to Jacksonville (from N.Kansas city) and a boat to Southampton.

It's missing the dash trim and some of the radio mounting parts at the moment - not sure *what* so I'm getting a crash parts sheet so I can find out what it actually missing! I can then email some online scrap places with the description - hopefully I can find one with a complete car that they can raid for me - works out cheaper than going to several places.

I also found out the engine was replaced sometime after '98 - *very* nice, makes it worth a lot more than I paid. It "only" has 98k anyway, not much for a 10yo cop car.

It still needs some work before I can drive it around - the tyres were bald but they were easy to get, I have fitted a fog light (mandatory here) and wired the reversing lights as indicators and fitted an amber bulb, this is pretty much all that is needed for it to pass an MOT test, as long as everything else is safe & sound.

I've got a 24" vinyl cutter so doing the graphics is a piece of piss - I am having trouble getting vector graphic files of state/city seals of the USA - if anyone can help there is beer money in it for you! Any Los Angeles graphics especially, city or county seals.

It must have been used by cops'n'robbers with unusually soft bums, the upholstery looks near perfect - usually you see it in shreds.

Oops, sorry didn't check the ICE forum as much as I should.

I chopped the original harness and wired in an ISO connector (for UKers I paid £1.50 at a trade shop for *exactly* the same Autoleads connector that costs £11.99 in Halfrauds!) but only one rear speaker works! I think the wirinng is a bit shot but I've got to buy a large Torx driver to get a rear seats out.

Otherwise it is all done! It passed the MOT after some final glitches with the brake/turn signals (like they were the same) and it is now registered - J587 LRV no less!

It is absolutely crazy to drive, about 50% of people stare at it (walking into lamp posts etc.) and the other 50% point and say something to the people they are walking/driving with! (probably how the f£$ does he park that!?)

Cheers,

Gareth

How'd you sort that? My car failed it's MOT last time for a bunch of things, one being my indicators weren't orange enough.
