Now that's extremely interesting. I own now a VW Gol (not Golf, Gol, it's a Latin American market-only car, very similar to a Polo), and your design would really make the empeg look totally OEM. Is it available or there's just one unit?

Ooh, that black one WOULD look good in my Volvo V70? Do you have any close-ups of the texture of the material? It's brushed aluminum that's colored black, right?
Hm, do I REALLY need a new facia after only having the unit for a month? Hm......
Oh, are there different colored lenses for it? Deep green would make my day (and make me buy one).

Greetings!
Can the knob be anodized as well for stealth installation?

Cool! I am interested in most of the designs, but I see myself using the black for the stealth install. The regular aluminum knob is very visible, and a black knob would really work well.

Wow. If you can get the ano knob and an old MkI style handle going... it'll be hard to stop me from buying one. That looks great. What's the word on handles?

Man, that looks great.. might be time to take the finish off of the handle though, I think that would complete the install...

That looks sooooo wicked! Nice job... I've got a brushed face on order from Tim, but he's customizing it for me to work with an Alpine knob, so that it will match my stereo... Can you post how you stripped your handle, so that we can follow your lead, and learn from your example?

I used a Dremel rotary tool and a sanding bit to get the original coating off of the handle.
To smooth the surface I sanded the handle with fine sanding paper first and to match the shiny finish of my NewFace used a rubbing compound in the last step.

Here it is - Bruface with an Alpine knob installed in my Ford Explorer - thanks to 303 for creating a great product, and Jets for the Alpine knob .nfo! Great fit and finish on the Newface, no complaints at all - fit like a glove, everything was packaged well and arrived in good time...
To all those naysayers who thought the Alpine knob would look out of place with this face, I say !!!

Another pic
I had to sack my cool Neon Red lens since the beveled edges dont meet up with the display cut out for the New Face. Plus, the door doesn't close becasue the knob protrudes too far. But, it looks awesome, it looks like it belongs and is part of the car (well, it did before too, but moreso now).
I'll get some better pics up soon!

Are you aware that the GIF of people dancing that you are using as your avatar and also on the front page of your website is over a quarter of a million bytes in size ?
I think you need to change it for something smaller. Even on my nice fast ADSL line while I waited for IE to download and play it I was beginning to thing IE had crashed. For someone on a modem it will take them nearly a minute just to download that one graphic.

Thought I'd post pics of my new polished fascia from Tim. It looks great and I'm quite pleased. It'll eventually receive a chroming to match the handle but all in all it looks pretty good.
I did have a problem with the chrome handle sticking because of the extra thickness associated with the chrome even with the FAQ handle adjustment. I'll probably wind up grinding the fascia down a little prior to chroming. More info on the handle is here.
My empeg is currently a stereo component until I get back to the US. The chrome is meant to blend with the chrome on the radio bezel. Something like this...
I'll post pics once the actual install occurs. Thanks to Tim for putting the fascias together.

Do you mean the illuminated buttons? Do those fit when you have a NewFace or are they too big?

Here are a couple of pictures of my NewFaced Empeg. I thought the lighted buttons were a bit obtrusive, so I painted a bit on them with a marker and I think they look better this way...

You need to dot your i's and cross your t's.
Or at least count them.

Of course, knowing what the internet is mostly used for, I think that Hyper Text Tittie Transfer Protocol should also be considered valid. I don't think the the W3 consortium would go for the validation of that one, though.

Here's mine. I don't like the filler fascia around the unit, though. It sits a bit too deep in the dash for my taste.
AnoFace is awesome, though! Now I need my lighted buttons...

It seems to me that it would make more sense to apply some extra plastic to the front of the dash adapter between the sled's lips and where the lips currently touch (it'd end up looking like a picture frame) and have the sled sit further out.
The reason that I (intellectually) don't like the concept of moving the plug is that the empeg will no longer slide into the sled all the way and the clips activated by the arm won't have anything to grab onto.

That's a cool looking install though, with the NewFace. It's a shame (well, kinda) that the stock empeg look is absolutely PERFECT in my dash, and almost looks stock. Which is good, because stock = not appealing to thieves. Not that I leave it in my dash these days, but still.

That is my concern as well so I haven't tried it, yet. I can live with it for now, but I'd like to look into a fix for it.

That little mod sure does get a lot of use. That reminds me, I have to check and see if i ever moved it back when I switched cars. Yup, found a picture in the gallery. Boy that riocar.org is handy.

RE: "303, you've got a Richard 23 thing going on."
I never did explain myself did I?
Richard 23 was a member of the EBM industrial act "Front 242." Early in their career, their image was defined by paramilitary outfits (the kinda looked like fighter pilots) and dark wrap-around sunglasses or goggles. They even had a phase where all of their record covers were close ups of swimmers wearing Speedo type goggles. You may remember their big song "Welcome to Paradise" that had the vocal sample "Hey poor, you don't have to be poor any more! Jesus is here!"
You avatar and your username reminded me of them (esp. the singer Richard 23).
