The previous owner installed a cd player in the dash pocket and a tape deck in the factory location. I originally planned on keeping the tape deck in the same place and put the empeg in the cd player location. But, the empeg sled is to wide, it hits a heater duct on the right side. So now I have to put it in the tape deck location.

Here's a pic of the tape deck and the cd player currently intalled:

Does anybody have an idea how I can mount the empeg's sled in the tape deck location? Here's a pick of the tape decks mounting bracket:

The brackets bolt to the dash from above.

If there's enough space between those mounting tabs, you should be able to find an install kit that will correctly and cleanly adapt the factory location for a DIN-sized stereo.

If not, then cut or bend that one mounting tab that's in the way and create your own "din plate" which screws into the remaining tabs, then mount the empeg to that.

The brackets are to narrow for the sled.

BTW, any idea what the screw hole size is that's located on the back of the sled?

Here's a pic:

The tape deck has a support screw on the back that slides in a hole in the back of the dash. So, I want to use the same method to support the back of the sled.

It's a metric screw. I forget the number. Take the sled to a hardware store and start trying different metric screws until you find one that fits exactly.

M4 thread (easily found with a search on "sled thread" in this forum)

Maybe a candidate for addition to the installation part of the FAQ?

Let's add it to Lopan's parts list, and then I'll put his parts list into the FAQ. Lopan's parts list, last I saw, needed to be updated with numbers for the small version of the knob LEDs.
