How would one go about contacting the French Embassy?

Look here, find the nearest, bone up a bit on the information on the site, so you've got something to talk about, then phone/walk in and ask for the press attache, I would think.

I need to buy a $3000 - $4000 oil burning boiler. I was told yesterday that mine may not last this winter and even if it does, it should be replaced because it is producing too much soot and is rusting out. I don't have the money so would anyone like to contribute to keeping me warm this winter?

My maintenance guy has said this same thing since we bought the house six years ago (our inspector also pointed it out). 40 year old furnace, and counting. He has given us his cell phone, though, for a winter emergency.

Wow! I've seen the Ericsson commercials for phones that light up a stadium, but one that provides heat for a winter is amazing! I wonder how long the battery life is? Sure was nice of him to give you that phone!

BTW, since we're starting our "Needs Donations" I need $229 for a new Shimano Chronarch Super Free fishing reel...

Now that's something you don't hear every day. For some reason that made me laugh.

Yes, me too. I'm feeling I'm not getting my $5 worth of entertainment... I mean that's like almost 3 (F)Atkins snack bars for that much money!!!

Agreed. I might even donate $2 more if I could watch the meter go up.

If it is smoking it needs either the air tweaking or a new burner tip which is probably a 20 dollar part at worst you need a new swirl plate.

also 4 grand on a boiler even in the uk it would cost well less than that.

keep it if it dies it dies but don't get a new one from some one that wants to sell you a new one

It isn't smoking since he worked on it and he replaced the nozzel. The thing is finiky and gets worked on off and on through the winters, it just needs replaced. I have yet to be able to turn it on for the winter without having it serviced first because by the end of the heating season it has clogged back up from soot.

The same guy has been working on it the last 5 years and this is the first time he has suggested it get replaced. I tried a couple of others companies and they managed to make it worse. Over here, not too many places work on oil burners.

Justin,
I wish you luck in getting to Africa. It looks as if I won the auction. I added a little more to the "shipping" to bring the total to a even amount.

Justin stopped over in Paris today on his way to Reunion Island. The weather cooperated enough for us to speed tour him around the city.
