For the best part of two and a half years I've been getting them on my hands and feet. I have no idea why I keep getting them or why they reappear as I have burnt them with nitrogen (once so badly I thought my finger was going to turn black!)

I can't keep burning my hands for obvious reasons so has anyone got an alternative preventative treatment. I found Thuja tinture which can be taken internally and is meant to prevent them, but any ideas would be great.

This board usually has all answers so I await patiently!

I had them very bad when I was younger (early high school)(mind you their all gone as well) and my wicked step mother made me wash the dishes (about two weeks worth)... so with my hand being in the HOT soapy water for so long I noticed a month or two later that some of the warts had gone away. I tested my theory later by preparing a concoction of the hotest water I could stand and the dish soap (it was Octagon but I believe anything would probably do) and soaked my hand for at least an hour... and the other warts went away.... Yeah, it may not work for you but it's worth a shot ay?

According to the MD on a recent TV article (I don't remember which). The duct tape causes an irritation to the skin which triggers an imune response that kills the wart.

I'm not an MD, but is "Was On TV", so it must be true.

No, no, no!

No less an authority than Huckleberry Finn offers up this definitive treatment:

"Why, you take your cat and go and get in the graveyard 'long about midnight when somebody that was wicked has been buried; and when it's midnight a devil will come, or maybe two or three, but you can't see 'em, you can only hear something like the wind, or maybe hear 'em talk; and when they're taking that feller away, you heave your cat after 'em and say, 'Devil follow corpse, cat follow devil, warts follow cat, I'm done with ye!' That'll fetch any wart."

If you're gonna get rid of warts, do it right!

Well, Of Course!

But siccing a cat (dead or alive) on a devil, is such a cruel thing to do to a devil.

Duct tape also deprives them of life-giving oxygen. They are caused by fungi after all.

I can't believe warts is the topic on my 1000th post. Wheee.

Does it have to be duct tape? I'm trying now with black electrical tape (is that duct tape?).

I imagine the skin is deprived of oxygen and thats how it works.

Duct tape is the plastic/fabric stuff that comes several inches wide on big rolls. Gaffer tape has a different adhesive that doesn't get left behind, and is more expensive. The big DIY stores usually sell branded versions at huge prices - I usually get it from www.cpc.co.uk and keep a roll in the car.

Electrical tape doesn't stick to skin very well, but the adhesive in duct tape loves warmth (no jokes about hamsters!)
