Empeg (18 G) / Alpine CD headunit install, with Boston Pro Compo 6.5 front / Phase Linear Allinate 10" sub on Soundstream 604 in VW Golf 150hp TDI. Sounds so great, I'm really happy with this set up. Keep ripping those CD's !

I, too, would love to see pics of your set up....seeing other people's creativity often gives good inspiration to improve on our own systems....

How did you manage 150hp out of a TDI?! (chip?) That hp figure is more inline with the 1.8T....

No, It's the new TDI, this is still "unchipped" !! It has a bigger turbo, higher turbo pressure(2,4 bar) bigger cooler, different camshaft and motormanagment. This baby is the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothes, beats any GTI and 16V and a lot of V6 engines, and still has a low fuel consumtion. Just pop it in to sixt gear at 90 KPH on the highway and the thing keeps accelerating till 220/230 KPH. Real fun !! Only the V6 Golf can still keep up. Try it !! All the best . S

OK OK , sorry guys. Didn't know there was so much interest in install pics. I will get the photo posted asap !! It looks real nice, and not too "starship enterprise". It almost matches the blue dashlight of the Golf. Till soon ! S.

Just checked for you. If you want to be a REAL sporty driver, you can have it tuned by VW (option and normal warranty) or Oettinger in Germany. Standard 150 hp and 320 Nm to 180 hp and 360 Nm. This will probably make your glasses into contacts and eject your Empeg from it's sled wenn you put your right foot too fast !! Cost +/- Fl 2000,- Don't ever say diesels are slow ! See ya . S

I am guessing "se sport driver" was questioning the 150 HP because he must be in the USA and all we can get it the 90 hp TDI (but I am happy with my 90 HP TDI)

Yeah! Chiptuning is cool! I got 145 HPS from usually 110 HPS by tuning the chip...
And 50 NM more (from 260 to 310)
What a difference!

I'm not too sure about this!
Just think about the 2.5 TDI. Or the new 130 HPS-Golf which will come in May...
Well - your 90 HPS could be 115 with a tuned chip...

I like those new diesel-technologies! :-) I've a common-rail diesel, too - well it's not the new VW's technique with a compression for each cylinder but not bad, too...
Those modern diesel's are really very agile and dynamic...

Sorry, but a 110 hp TDI standard has 235 Nm, the + 50Nm when tuned is correct, this then would add up to 285 max. Still very nice, I know because I had a tuned 110 before this car, very smooth power and a good friend of mine works at Oettinger in Germany (VW's "house"tuner) You could squeeze more hp and Nm out of a 110, but this could cause piston meltdown and transmission problems and will terminate warranty !! So be carefull, let it only tune a company who takes over the VW warranty or at VW. Have fun with your Heizöll Ferrari ! S. ( No I'm not German )

Well - the sixth gear is just for saving fuel...
A gallon of fuel is much more expensive here in europe than it is in the states! So why save fuel?
Just kidding. Of course it's not a bad thing saving fuel...

Our prices aren't anywhere near yours, but we are going through a little "price shock" lately and it will be much worse this summer (we may get near $3 a gallon). $3 may not seem like a lot in Europe, but it was only about $1.30 a short time ago.

Our fifth gear is pretty much just a cruising gear too. So, we only have 4 gears for doing wheelies.

One of my friends has a tuned VR6, and coar blimey it does go. Even with 4 people in it, puts the foot down and VROOM you feel it.. Dont know how many BHP it shoves out, but it does 0-60 in about 6 seconds, so its quite nippy.

Not a touch on a custom made AC Cobra 8 litre beast, 0-60 in about 2.4 seconds. Handles like a brick tho, so i read. Anyone spare me £20k, ill be able to do a real comparison then. ;)
