I've resumed using my main player after a few months using my spare and I've found:

One of my empegs is larger than the other.
One of my sleds is larger than the other.

Both are MKIIa. My main player, the larger, is older (01010). My spare, the smaller, is newer (03010). The sled from the main player seems bigger than that of my spare, but it could be that they're mounted at two different dash angles.

Is this possible or am I nuts? The worst case, my larger main player in the smaller spare sled, is tough to pull the player out (which I usually do at a red light a few blocks from my destination). Any ideas? Thanks.

You should probably put your bigger player on a low-fat diet, and make sure it exercises regularly. For low-fat music, I would suggest acoustic sets (Leo Kottke, Nick Drake, Johnny Cash). You should alternate with speed metal for the ideal workout scenario, and make sure you press the buttons a lot. Maybe leave the player playing overnight?

Another alternative would be to wash the bigger player in hot water and dry it on the hot setting in your dryer.

I've also heard that as your player gets older, it will shrink (from old age).

1) Check the docking connector screws.

2) Push the tabs on the sled out.

3) Check the docking connector screws again.

You're only checking the screws again because of the catastrophic results of not checking them. Many a handle has been broken by a lose docking connector. I don't know the mechanics of it, but it'll stick so hard you'll have to take the dash apart to get it out.

I think I only made it bigger by dumping Ultra Slim Fast into the vent. What part of "slim" did it not understand!
