I highly recommend checking out more of their videos. Not only do they capture hilarious (and sometimes unsettling) moments of talking heads on TV, but they're also pretty talented musicians.

I'd give them some talent points if they weren't using any vocoder-based software like Auto-Tune. That stuff is just plain annoying. It was annoying when Cher did it in the late 90's and it's still annoying today.

That said, I'm all for talking heads and musical parody.

At least someone in the younger generation is watching the news!

Well, I disagree with you in this case. I don't listen to music with auto-tune like this, but to use it for this purpose I think is perfect.

Cher and the like use it to affect their singing voice. These guys are using it to turn people who aren't singing into people who are. I don't see any other way they could do it, so it's fine with me. Plus, they tend to sing their own parts without the vocoder, and they actually have decent voices (as you can tell from the end of the Double Rainbow Song).


Yeah, it sounds like they watch an unhealthy amount of C-SPAN.

Auto-tune is also the only way Jamie Foxx can sing, but that doesn't make it OK.

So all they need to do now is invent a box that can make him act as well and he'll be all set.

Maybe it's just early in the morning (or late at night) but I just about sneezed my drink over my laptop at that one :-)

I was traveling with friends in 1989 and we went to the Oldtimer Grand Prix at Nurburgring. We took our rental gutless Golf diesel with four on board and luggage around the Nordschleife. The carousel is a wild ride at any speed.

Depends what you mean by jerky. Some of the in car footage has that typical tearing that you get on cheap sensors with fast motion.

But no, generally the video should be silky smooth.

Because Flash is garbage.

Try it again using Chrome or Safari, and turn on HTML5 video mode. (Firefox supports HTML5 video now; I'm not sure why Vimeo doesn't enable that option for it.)

Firefox does not support HTML5 video when encoded with H.264. Only OGG Theora, or soon Google WebM. Vimeo only uses H.264 in their HTML5 player.

It certainly was an amazing day, we were taking it fairly slowly, there were people lapping twice as fast as us. Only 4 of the 150 cars ended up in the barriers...

...which apparently is much better than average, the usually quoted figure is that 10% of cars entering the track contact the barriers at some point

For anyone else who needed a good laugh today.

Does the BBS embed them without the fullscreen ability or is that something you chose when grabbing the embed code?

I just used the BBS's own video embed feature (little icon that looks like a monitor on the composition page.) Looks to me like the BBS might setup the links to embed that way, which is sub-optimal. If any of the admins are reading (I no longer have the keys to the kingdom) maybe they can tweak that?

It's just that going over is generally faster.

There's no "theoretically" about it. Back when I was in high school track, I used to train using hurdles (I ran steeplechase). Hitting hurdles, even just clipping them with your heel, throws off your stride. It wasn't so much a problem with the non-weighted hurdles -- a light breeze was enough to blow them over, sometimes.
