I bought the Intel because that's one of the brands everyone seems to universally suggest. The Kingston I had died rather quickly. I just got around to getting an RMA this past week and they're replacing it with a brand new and current product which should be much faster - let's hope it doesn't die - when I figure out what to do with it.
I did a quick Google for firmware for the Intel and didn't seem to find anything - it still has the original.
System Info shows it's only negotiated a 1.5Mbit connection, but it doesn't identify the bays otherwise. The HDD has a 3Mbit connection. Maybe I have them swapped - I know only the primary HDD bay supports sudden drop sensor, but I thought I remember the optical bay having issues with hibernation if it was used for the boot drive. So I really can't remember how I installed them and will probably have to crack the 12 screws (I lost one) to find out.
