I upgraded to 2.0 beta 3.

First of all i'd like to say the new feature may have been a hell of a long time coming but they look good!.

However, when selecting a playlist 70% of them now display "invalid file format".

Anyone else seen this?

Have you done a sync with 2.0b3 yet ?

I had lots of "invalid format" errors until I did my first sync that patched up some of the metadata.

I have done a sync, but it doesn't seem to be sticking. I've got a playlist "Pear Jam" that i thought i'd rename to "Pearl Jam" but after a sync it still comes up as Pear Jam on the empeg.

Would the disk being 99% full be a problem?

That's probably it.

OK, well i've deleted a 5 track album, so that should free up a few megs.

Now trying to sync i am getting a bunch of errors.
During the sync the empeg builds the music database, emptool shows "Rebuilding databases" after a short while the empeg returns to normal operation displaying "invalid file format", but emptool still shows "rebuildings databases".

After a short while emptool then shows:
3100 Rebuild databases returned an error: Connection timed out1260 Drive 0 size: 3910M, free: 32585K, used: 3878M (99%)

At least the file delete operation has worked, it used to say
1260 Drive 0 size: 3910M, free: 1365K, used: 3909M (99%)

Is 35Mb enough space for the database rebuild to work?

As Tony says, that's probably it. I had problems synching when my first drive was getting full. Looks like it's time for more GB .

Progress report:

Tried syncing many times always getting "3100 Rebuild databases returned an error: Connection timed out".

Also when power cycling the player it always does a database rebuild on bootup.

After the power cycle i connected again and this time it did a database rebuild without reporting errors.

I can make changes and sync, during the sync it rebuilds the database without error.

I'm able to delete files and playlists and sync, and the files seem to get deleted. I am now at "1260 Drive 0 size: 3910M, free: 86182K, used: 3826M (97%)"
The deleted playlists do indeed disappear from the empeg menu.

I tried to rename my "pear Jam" playlist again, and this time the connection time outs during database rebuild occured again. When i synced, it deleted a bunch of stuff that i deleted before the last sync, which seems strange. (output attached)

70% (more like 90% actually) of my files still say "invalid file format"

I fired up VMware and installed emplode into a virtual win98 install. When connecting with emplode it said something like "you have files uploaded with an old version of software, these files need to be updated to add new information to them" It then scanned all the tracks, took about a min, and then after a sync they all work again!!!

Did i miss the mention in the release notes of needing to do a sync with emplode after upgrading to 2.0?

Is there a way to do this upgrade from emptool?

PS, VMwares new USB support is great!
