There is value for the effort that was made to obtain these tuners. Keep in mind, these tuners were very hard to get. They go on e-bay for well over $400, so sure, why not $410... it is a good deal when you look at the market.

Hey let's all (empeg owners, that is) look at the bright side. This will help set the price for the tuners that the Empeg guys (sorry GODS) are planning to make. We wont feel so bad about a $200 tuner and this will help make another run of a thousand more feasible. Oh Yeah........

For the love of god, SOMEONE make some more tuners.

Keep in mind also that our efforts to manufacture more tuners are going well. We have a cost price from the factory, and are now going to send out a survey to establish demand. My guess is that they will retail for a little more than the original price of $99.

I hope to find a reseller who is motivated to sell the units for a fair and consistant price. I'll be contacting those who showed an interest in this after the survey has gone online.

No offense to Jeremy, I won't rehash the past arguments... but please don't let carplayer.com be the reseller given their propensity to jack prices based on "market value". I think you ruled them out with your "fair and consistent price" phrase anyhoo.

The prices are not Jacked, these tuners were not purchased for the retail price, $330 or so was paid for each one. People on this BBS can vouch for that as they were purchased from some users who had "extra" new tuners.... I took a used $330 tuner for myself... Please do not make me out to be the bad guy, as bbs members purchased tuners and made 200% profit (not their origional plan in most cases) before I got my hands on them to make 20%.

LIke i said man, no offense. I didn't claim to know the story behind those tuners. I was just talking in a more general sense. You have raised prices as supply went down, and that's all i meant. And like i said... i'm not gonna argue all that again. I'm sure you aren't a "bad guy", i just don't jive with your methods in this matter. My opinion, and that's that.

In response to the "effort" to get them back into production... Several people offered to put up thousands of $$$ to get them made... but have not received replies. I assume that they are going to be made. eBay now has several more, so they are available to those that need to hear Howard in the morning.

Thank god for capitalism so people can still purchase a Rio Car for a reasonable price. If carplayer was such a rip-off, then carplayer would have to love their inventory enough to have it sitting around. Yes I'm a Republican who pays more than his "fair share" of taxes (e.g., luxury/consumer penalty taxes.)

Carplayer is OK with me. If enough tuners are made to meet demand while still making the hastle of their manufacture worth somebody's efforts, then the price will be reasonable.

I agree 100%. He has them. He's selling them. People are buying them. What's the problem? There's no crimes going on here, no one purchsing one of them has a gun to their head. As much as I love mine, it's just a bunch of wires and circuits and platters. It isn't like selling children into slavery or anything. Supply and demand, baby. You gotta pay to play. He took a risk buying them, he's reaping the rewards. I have no hang-ups with it either.

I have bought a couple of items for my empeg players from Jeremy, and although I have never met him, his operation seems very professional. If you don't like his prices, then take your chances on ebay. Why is everyone so hard on this guy?

I believe that loren has implied before that he also dealt in Neo units and jacked his existing prices when it was convenient for him to do so. So far he has not done this with the empegs. I also have no proof, only inferred hearsay, that what I'm saying about his Neo units is true. If it is true, maybe a little nagging will keep him on the straight-and-narrow this time around.

He has already said that he is running out of Empegs and will be raising the price soon. It's unfortunate and we might not like it, but it is hardly unethical. It is supply and demand as far as I am concerned, you charge what the market will bear. I see nothing wrong with a little capitalism.

I believe that it's unethical. It's not as if this shortage all of a sudden cropped up. He knew how many he had to sell from day one, and that there would be no more. It's certainly not illegal, though. Note that I have no interest in buying another unit, regardless of his or anyone else's prices. But with that attitude, I know I won't ever be buying anything from him, either. That doesn't mean you can't.

I believed I had replied to everyone who emailed me. I have not replied to a few "any more news yet" emails - sorry, been busy. My first replies did say "I'll get back to you when there is some news".

Rob, I second the motion that carplayer.com not be your reseller. I've followed these guys since the beginning of the Neo units... They do jack prices and you give him a 99 dollar tuner you'll see it get sold for 250 or 300. If you do go with carplayer please get something in place stating they won't jack the price up too much say no more than 25 or 30%

Price fixing is illegal in most places. You can't tell your retailer what price to sell at.

Most laws I know only prohibit the setting of a minimum price, not that of a maximum price.

I have no idea what the legality of it all is, I just know I'd like to have another tuner and I don't wanna get raped! I paid 200 bucks for the first one, had to send it in under warranty to even get it to work. I'd like to get the second for as close to 100 as I can.

I had to comment on this.... What a wonderful sales pitch! Almost like a bad weight loss infomercial, "Yes now for the low low price of Nine Hundred Ninety Nine ninety five, You too can own an Empeg with a tuner"
