Actually, I was thinking about this, and I decided that at some point, they've got to go through a huge inventory. At this point, they probably take all the non-sellers and throw them in a cheap CD bin. Then I could probably get the CD for like $8. So in that hypothetical situation, they lost as much as 7 dollars over what I would have paid for it.

Oh well. What can you expect?

Speaking of pricing and not buying at Amazon or CDnow, when I am too lazy to go downtown to one of my favourite CD shops (which is usually the case), the first e-place I try is http://www.gemm.com (both for new and used CDs). It is not unusual to find the price range of 1:5 for the same (old) title there.

Somebody said they go to physical shops because they have to have the CD now. The problem with my buying habits is that I have to order the thing right now. Expensive form of impulse buying...

Errr, yes, I got a bit lost in piled up backlog of posts... Anyway, I wanted to say that it shows that prices of old (not only used) CDs are rather arbitrary.

I just looked there, and they do indeed seem to list every song ever recorded. I found one CD that I wanted for sale for $2.74. But the shipping expenses were staggering -- the particular seller offered only one shipping option to the U.S., and it was $27. I had to pass on that one.

But I have bookmarked Gemm for future reference.
