I havn't heard any word on Image Pans getting into the RioCar.org site... so how about a thread for them?
Here is my "Detroit Map". It is easy to do (and I have a few others). As mentioned in another thread, this one gives a cool "psuedo navigation system" effect that bounces around to the music. Maybe like you have a tracking device on someone's car! Here is just a small part of it from Jemplode's screne capture tool. It would be neat if Jemplode also allowed one-click upload of these...
I already attached the actual .raw file in another thread, so I will just link to it here.

Here is a link to another .raw I did for the guys in Cambridge. It is a map of the area detailing all local pubs! And it was provided on a government tourist site - how cool! Unfortunately, whoever hosts the image did a bad job re-sizing it, so it isn't the easiest to read.

OK, this will be my last post until I see if there is any interest in this...
Here is one of a circuit board. Kinda like you are getting an inside look at your empeg.

Any the preview. Colorizing these is killing a bit of the detail. Deal.

Continue! You've chosen some very good subjects. I've yet to get a chance to try them out, but they look very cool.
(BTW, where did you get the Detroit city map? I've tried reducing colors on a number of them, and they end up looking like crap. Or maybe you're just spending more time on it than I am.)

Thanks guys! I've been spending time trying to come up with ideas and images that either work really well as a pan (looking at a circuit board is very boring - but once you are panning around it, it's as if you are zoomed in on the empeg itself!) or fit the car appliance environment well (as in maps).
I have some more, but I'll wait until I have the empeg connected so I can get grabs and show previews. I drove around with the Detroit Map and with the Circuit board and both are very fun! Almost all of the streets in the Detroit map are pretty significant (seen concerts there, worked here etc).
Thanks for the support - more to come! (one or two requests welcomed too... Bitt, what city are you trying to do? I did spend some time replacing colors and what not... took about 20min of playing in MS Paint.)

Just another thing I want to do but haven't had much time/luck in getting done myself. I like the idea of the female form sliding around waiting for the music to show the right bits would likely cause me an accident though.
Really though I remember reading a post awhile back about how to do it but didn't have much luck let alone a good pic to put in it. Is there a filesize limit on the image for pan?

I came up with the opposite idea myself but I just have it sitting on my desk. It hasn't caused me to fall out of my chair yet.

jwickis, do a search.. someone actually posted a nude pic. I think I complained about it being posted as a preview (I wasn't offended) because I opened the thread at work....
Here is a request someone made in another thread. It is of Huntington Beach, CA. It is attached.

Ooooh
I tried that as well, I couldn't see the screen very well to see the image pan. As odd as it might sound I soon lost interest in the empeg but we didn't fall out of the chair either.

Not many posts here... but 334 views, so I'll keep going! Again in the WRX theme is this WRX Impreza logo. If anyone wants official Subaru graphics, PM me. I found an awesome resource! So here is the attached logo. The next post will have the preview.
And all you Subaru owners! GET A DARKSTORM "SMOKED" LENS! It will match your dash! Previously owning a Ford, I can say it will match the "Ford Green" too!

Hi.
Not to discourage you, but what do pure images have to do with the "Programming" subject of this board?
TONY: If you read this, could you transplant this thread to Projects or General or something?
cu,
sven

That opens up the whole "Projects vs. Programming" topic.... I always thought that Projects was for projects that are in development or in concept phase (OBD2, Navigation, etc). Yet I thought it wasn't of general concern to most people (or of general concern to mp3/empeg) so I didn't post it in General. But it isn't Off-Topic enough for "Off-Topic". I thought since it requires 3rd party software to make these things that the Programming board would fit..
I would have no objection to it being moved anywhere. The topic is clear enough that anyone will know what it is before opening it.

Oops. Forgot to actually respond to this earlier: I did spend some time replacing colors and what not... took about 20min of playing in MS Paint. I just wanted to make sure that you hadn't already found a site that produced easy-to-color-reduce maps. Regardless, what site did you grab the map off of?

A "Map" how-to (so far):
1. Go to Mapquest.com. Create a map. Click on "Big Map" right above the "+" button.
2. Either save the map or copy it to Irfanview (a neat little image viewer).
3. Using your mouse, select all of the map except for the top part that says "Map Quest" and the bottom part that has the copyright info (this will put a box around what you want to keep) and do a crop (Edit-->Crop or Ctrl-Y).
4. Do a Negative effect so that it is white text on black.
Now, after that, my process gets very un-scientific. You can reduce the colors, but if you aren't careful, it gets very "speckly". So what I do is copy what I have so far and paste it into MS Paint (because I'm too dumb to know how to use Photoshop). Once that is pasted, I also copy and paste a known good boot logo. ie: One that has the correct shades of grey. This boot logo gets pasted on a lake or something and I used that as my "pallet". Using the "Fill Tool" in MS Paint, I fill in other shades of grey and basically touch up the map replacing the colors with the known good greys.

I have tons of Subaru and WRX logos (to replace the logo.raw) and Image Pans (to replace escher.raw). I'm thinking of putting up a little page to host it on as we don't have many Subbie owners...

a seperate site would be cool, but all the boot logos you could put on riocar.org, as well as boot animations, now they just need to add the image pans, so a seperate site for image subaru image pans would be great.

That would be the best - to have them at RioCar.org.... I submitted a generic empeg animated logo last week and it still isn't up. I think they are tweeking the site (or Drakino is).
I came across an official Subaru logo site.. heehee. I've got tons now!
(This week, my Kartboy bushings will FINALLY be in, and this weekend, I may get an uppipe installed.)

I reckon there are quite a few of us. And I like all your pics I've seen. Both myself and my brother have our Subaru pics for startup logos. Admittedly mine's only an Impreza 2.0 Sport, but trading it in this summer for a standard (ish) UK spec turbo so keep the pics coming - please:)

unfortunately all my logos are for the Impreza 2.5 RS ( turbo in my case) so it doesn't apply to anybody except us westerners who were denied the WRX for so long.
and only a handfull of 2.5 RS owners at that, for north america the amount of 2002 WRX's made is the same as all 4 years of RS' ('98 - '01). and quite a few of them jumped ship for the new wrx. makes me feel a little better knowing that I won't see my car on every turn I make

Well, I moved all the logos to the "Temporary Image PAn/Tux Much" thread in Off Topic. I can do some Tux Much logos for you no prob. But there are also generic Subaru ones for all us Subbie owners
Nice car btw. I always give a wave to an early adopters I see out there. I always liked Subaru's but wanted more power. I didn't have the balls or knowhow to do it myself like you!
