I was thinking more and more about the AudioTron and the MKII working together, and realised one important thing. Does the empeg store the MP3 files unchanged? I know Emplode won't change the ID3 tags, but will it leave it in the file?

Yeah, it leaves the tags in the file. One of the other users on this BBS needed to extract the files off of the Empeg hard drive and rename them back to something logical from their odd filenames. He used a utility that batch-renames files based on their tags, and it worked. So yes, the files still had their original tag data.

I believe Nils managed to do something like this. Have a look at his posting where he says that he copied all of his Empeg's MP3s to a desktop disk and extracted the tag info to rename the files sensibly. Have a look here.

A good tool for renaming files based on ID3v1 Tag is the MP3-Tag Studio-
