You can pry the melt glue (it isn't very sticky) off with a small screwdriver or something similar. Be patient, be gentle, be careful.
The cable is custom length to fit inside properly. If you contact support, you will probably (don't know what shipping they use for them) have one by you inside the week...
If you have a single drive player, try connecting it to the free IDE connector at the end of the cable instead of the middle one. Most problems are with the middle one... Best way to do this and avoid folding the cable in odd ways is to move the drive over to the empty drive position.
Another thing that has been employed with some success is to remove the cable and give the connectors a good squeeze (don't over do it though) in a vice or something similar. Take care to align the drive connectors so that youre not "one pin off" when you reconnect it.
If you do a few searches around this board you should find that the drive cable problem isn't too uncommon, but that empeg is good about fixing it.
Has the idea that you should contact support (see links in earlier post for contact addresses) come across yet?
