3) Tivo connection. I have no phone jacks near my TV. I don't want to open the Tivo up and add anything. This makes it difficult to connect for guide info. I bought a wireless phone jack system, but sometimes Tivo would go for weeks without being able to connect with it. I hooked a regular phone up to it once and the static was horrible! I could barely hear the dial tone. Are there any other options?
Do you not want to add an ethernet card because you doubt your ability, or because you don't want to break your warranty? Physically installing the TurboNet is easy. The software is also easy as long as you know basic unix commands.
I would recommend going with an ethernet TiVo. There is so much you can do with it aside from making the daily call over the internet.
I will be driving through DC Friday the 19th. If you can get the TurboNet by then, I would be happy to stop by and install it.
