I think that, in agreeing with and adding to your point, few people in the UK, unless it hits them in the face, realise how much laws designed for anti terrorism are being used to penalise photographers: Perfectly ordinary people, taking perfectly ordinary pictures are accosted routinely in the street and in shopping centre etc.. If, like me, you read railway magazines, officous behaviour by security staff to trainspotters with cameras/videos is currently the major topic.
And yet Google can get away with doing exactly the same thing without any restriction.
Again, I don't see the point of it, we have quite enough surveillance provided through official channels in this police state, without adding to it: Not that I'm going paranoid in my old age.
