you can accully set the tivo to start an hour before the time or an hour after, so if its one of those events that u know will be longer, such as sporting events.

Yeah, but at that point, it's just a glorified VCR. I thought the whole point of a Tivo was so that you didn't have to tell it when to stop and start.
