Hi,

I 've read the "Advanced Search" Topic in the FAQ but is there no way to make an advanced search based on Flags ?
Find all the songs with a Flag "XXX" that could be described by a query like : flag=XXX
What's the query a player is sending when activating a Wendy Filter ?

Does someone have the answer ?

Regards

DDA

The answer is that there is currently no way to do an advanced search on wendy flags in emplode.

Well, maybe this isn't supposed to work or isn't documented for some reason.

But it works for me.

Do a search on "wendy=5" or "wendy!=0" etc.
The numeric value is the bitmask of the wendy flags, which you can figure out by looking at your config.ini file.

Unfortunately, since there are no bitwise ANDing or ORing operators in the search function, this is of marginal utility.
But I have used it to see which songs have any Wendy flag set, or which songs have one and only one Wendy flag set.

I sent a request for this to be added to the FAQ. Since it wasn't, I have to assume this isn't supposed to be a publicly supported feature.

But it is useful for me nonetheless.

Where/how did you send it?

Well, I just added this info to the FAQ entry anyway.

It's supported in that "wendy" is just an integer, and the flags are just bits. What people have been asking for are either named wendy flags to search on, or bitwise operators, so that the maths is easier.

I'm curious where this request was sent as well, since I don't see any e-mail to the riocar_admin address about this...

I'll probably be adding Wendy support to either jEmplode 37 or 38 and I added this to the list of features to support ...

Let's see. Let me check.

It looks like I mentioned the feature indirectly in passing here.

But apparently the only place I actually made this request was in a
PM to Tony on 6/26. Here is a little excerpt from it.

In reply to:

I'd like to request an exception to the "no bugs in FAQ" rule. The
inability to set Wendy Flags in Soup Views caused me days of
frustration. And the "must clear filters, reshuffle, re-set new
filter" bug (which I just reported) combined with that had me pulling
my hair out for days trying to figure out why I couldn't get Wendy
Filters to work. You'll probably save at least a couple other people
some major hassle if you FAQify those two points until they are fixed.

I've also found it useful to do an advanced search on "wendy!=0"
This is a handy feature that seems to work, but doesn't appear to be
documented in the FAQ discussion of advanced search options.

No harm, no foul. I certainly didn't mean to cast aspersions on
the on-the-ballness of our FAQtastic FAQmeister or the
RioCar.org-organizer, both of whom have done and are doing excellent
jobs. (This is the most complete, useful (and pretty) FAQ I may have
seen to date. Though on a slow modem some of those pages take a while
to pull down; but that's probably much better than having to click
through an enormous HTML hierarchy of pages.)
