Hi everybody!
I finally managed to install my MK2 into my new Hyundai Tiburon (see attached picture)...awesome work...
1) It was a hot day, waited for the sun to go down a bit
2) Managed to open the radio-cover by drilling a hole in it and pulling it off with a screwdriver
3) The drill went straight to the attached plug at the back of the cover...somehow I missed the REALLY important part of the plug, so none of the contacts were damaged
4) I've never seen such a plug before...raced to my car-dealer to get an adapter (In austria the shops close at 6pm, it was a quarter to 6)
5) Found an suitable adapter
6) Wired everything together (I've done this before in my old car, so nothing to worry about)
7) TRIED to slide the MK2 case into the car but to no avail...the preinstalled metal case was about 1.5 mm (0,06 inch) too narrow....[censored]
8) Then came the hard work, I cut the preinstalled metal cage out of the card (all done by hand, no machine would fit). It would have been possible to screw the cage out of the car, but then I would have had to disassemble the complete dashboard without even knowing where the screws are...so let's saw...
9) At half past midnight I finally put my MK2 into the cage and almost got a heart attack, because there was a lot of noise from the engine which was not audible before everything was secured in place with a bunch of straps...so I cut them open again and rearranged every single cable from my MK2 to the amp an from the amp to the loudspeakers and from the battery to the amp and ...
10) 2 o'clock in the morning. Everything fine...except me...a lot of cuts on my hands, a lot of stings from midges...but I'm happy! No noises, pure sound...long live my MK2!
