From what I understand, this is the same software release as the beta12 that the alpha team has been running for a while. Assuming this is the case, it doesn't yet have the "Enqueue" option or the ability to insert FIDs with a serial command. At least it doesn't do that on my copy of beta 12. The only reason I mention this is because the release notes say these features are there, but they didn't actually make it into that build.

No it is NOT available - I've taken it offline.
These are not the files we wanted to release. I didn't expect that anyone would be checking every five minutes these days, but goes to show
There should be something back online later.

I can get the release notes, but the other links (emptool, player binaries) are broken. What gives?

Yeah, he took it down for a bit as they sort things out.
For those who are scrambling to see beta12, don't worry too much. Beta12 was basically beta11 with the jiffies fix (which we already have fixed through hijack) and a couple other small bug fixes.
I'm hoping that what Rob intends to actually release is a somewhat better buld than that. So if they can get their stuff sorted out soon, then everyone will be happy.

In Seek Tool mode, left/right and rotary turn now perform their normal
functions. To activate the seek tool functions press the rotary control:
the rotary turn now seeks within the track and left/right skip to the
previous/next phrase. Pressing the rotary control again switches back
to normal mode.
I'm at work so I can't upgrade now, but does this push-to-get-seek-mode functionality happen in all info modes, or just the seek info mode? My original recommendation was to decouple the seek info mode and the seek search mode, so that you could push the knob to switch to seek mode from any info mode, not just the seek graph. I kinda lobbied pretty hard for this, so I'm curious how it got implemented.

If they're the same beta12 that I'm running, there is nothing wrong with them. In fact they have fewer bugs than beta11. It's just not a real visible difference from beta 11.

Sorry, actually it's true, I have software that checks various websites for changes. It checks for updates on the Empeg download site every five minutes!

To alleviate confusion, why is the one that's being released to us being called "beta12" even though it's not the same build of the software that the alpha team has been banging on? I would think that if there is a version coming out soon that has a lot of new features, it would be like beta13 or something to indicate it's not the same as the one you guys had.
By the way, if it really is coming out later with all those features, I applaud the decision of the empeg guys to release it now, rather than having it get held up in alpha testing. We're all daredevils here, and we're running an EOL product, so there's really not much point in having it get stuck in alpha testing just to save a few bugs from getting to us. Better to release wide betas and have us bang the crap out of them, if you ask me.

The one that rob accidentally put up -WAS- the same beta12 as the alpha team got. It's not what he intended to have up there.
He's going to release a later version when he can get the build worked out. Not beta12.

It was intended to release an exact copy of Beta12. Then it got confusing.

I guess that means we don't get all those new features, then?

I think he originally intended for the new features to be made publicly available, hence the take-down of beta12.
(That's assuming it was the exact same beta12 that I've got which doesn't have those new features-- the release notes are in error for the beta12 that was released to the alpha team.)
So I think he's going to try and cobble something newer together and see if it works (I hope anyway), and release that if it does. I'm guessing it'll be labeled beta13 or later when all is said and done.

No, you should get the features that were not present in Beta 12. If it builds. And runs.

Splendid. I again applaud the decision to go ahead with this release.

Remember my script checking for the initial 2.0 beta? I never took it down. Was wondering why I got two SMS messages saying the page had changed while I was in training this morning.

Hey! I got into trouble on the Programming forum for teasing people like that! It's not fair that you get away with it....

Some of the developers run it on their players, and the DJ mixer uses it.
