Okay, Hijack v286 is now available.

Several fixes make this the best Hijack ever:

-- no more display corruption on reboots

-- The Restore DC/Car Visuals now just issues a down.L keypress on player startup, eliminating all of the complex logic from the past. This requires "notify=1" in config.ini.

-- Hijack is smaller than before, thanks to the above fix.

-- One can now request .xml output for a single tune, as per this thread.

-- The Hijack startup code has been reworked -- hopefully without breaking anything, and possibly fixing some jiffies-wraparound bugs.

Get yours now from the link at the top of this page.

For the curious, I "fixed" the "display corruption on reboots" by having Hijack power-off the display before rebooting. This would indicate a bug somewhere in the regular Empeg kernel startup code, whereby a powered-off display is possibly incorrectly assumed at startup.

Cheers

Oh yeah, v286 also fixes the "seek tool fix" for the case where the knob has not been remapped at all (blush).

Just a quick note, the new behavior for restore-DC-Car-visuals seems to work well for me now. It is better than the IR_Translate trick because it also works for waking up from standby mode. I like it.

Although the info:SeekTool behavior is odd now. With the last hijack version, I was able to knob-press-through all of the info modes without having to do anything but press the knob. Now, when I get into that screen I have to make a selection at the time I try to leave the screen. Why did it change with this version? The last behavior set worked well.

[Edit: I noticed after I changed the popup to "info" once, it worked that way from then on, so I guess this new behavior is fine now that I understand it.]

I take that back. The popup action reverts to "SeekTool" instead of "Info" upon reboot, and therefore requires a knob twist on the seektool screen when I try to pushknob through the info modes.

Sheesh! There's just no pleasing them privileged red names, is there?

The earlier version appeared to work nicely only because it was broken in other ways.

I'll put out v287 shortly, with some fine tuning that oughta please your emminence.

Cheers

Whatever.

v287 is available now, give it a whirl.

Smoother, but perhaps not exactly as smooth as before (?).

Thanks, trying 287.

Oh, and sorry I didn't mention this earlier today (I only just remembered) but this morning when I started the car, the Bottom.L from the new "Restore DC/Car Visuals" behavior wasn't "L" enough and all it did was open the main menu.

Still work better than the previous behavior, so please don't revert to the old info-cycling thing.

Hijack v291: the DC Restore visuals still doesn't work for me... Hasn't worked for me since v26x something... It's really fusterating, because it's like the only Hijack feature I really want to work!
