I installed Beta 12a last night onto my MK1. After a long sync session, I stuck it in my car this morning, to find it startup at 0db (VERY LOUD).

I think that this is related to the car/house sense part. My home setup is at 0db - car should be about 15db.

Just a warning to others.

Anyone else noticed this?

Cheers,

Paul

Interesting. I thought that's what 12a was supposed to FIX.

I've seen this once with 12a, but despite Mike spending a lot of today on it, we've not been able to replicate the problem.

If anyone *can* replicate this behaviour, please tell us how you did it!

The "forgettables" (ie, things the mk2 forgot when accessory power went away and it did a self-powerdown) were fixed in 12a, yes. Pre release 12, these simply weren't being saved unless you yanked the unit out of the dash, as there was no early powerfail warning on the self-powerdown.

If you're seeing problems with things not getting saved (eg, position in song, etc) then please email us with all the info - on ac/dc power, how you powered down the unit (pulled out power plug, etc) so we can investigate. We've tried to get the unit to forget settings, but havn't managed it yet.

Although I'm pretty late to the party here, I have been seeing the volume bug since 12A Mk1. Symptoms are - leave home & get into car. Power on. Stop engine briefly to wipe blood from ears and go inside to change underpants. Return, try again, only this time stomping on the volume immediately to pull it down from 0dB (house settings). Get to work, plug in, sit there for 20 minutes wondering why it's so quiet. Realise there's something up, check volume to find it's still at the setting I left it at in the car. Wind it up to 0dB. Make pathetic attempt to justify my salary. Finish pathetic attempt. Go out to car to go home. Power on. Stop engine again to re-focus eyes, wipe away tears of joy/pain, go back in to change into remaining pair of undies. Come out and try again, stomping on volume immediately etc. etc. etc.etc.

I'm not very good at this bug reporting thing really

Mike found the bug (or it looks very much like he did) earlier today, hence 12b.

Yes, the bug was in my code, but it wasn't an obvious one; every hour or so Mike would start saying "aaaaaah! ahhhh! I think I've found it", and jumping up and down in his cube. I'd peer over the carpeted wall and then he'd decide that *wasn't* the bug :)

And now you get lights on dimming, cellphone mute, and user-definable startup screens (that don't require you to compile a kernel, and they even survive over upgrades!)

What's the exact definition of "now" in your sentence?
