I need a replacement display.
Where can I order the replacement display part ?
The fill nipple is not broken, but there is a piece of broken glass under the 4 wires on the left side of the display.
Yes, I droped it ...
The display is blank, and the MK II console port looks like everything else is in order.

Thanks,

Does anyone know of a different source for the MN12832E VFD ?
Noritake-itron said that the price for one VFD unit in the us is 59.1 USD (38.2 GBP), but they do not have any in stock in the US. They will check world-wide and get back to me in the AM.
SONICblue will send me a replacement part for 85UKP (131.6 USD) shipping 25UKP (38.7 USD) . 170 USD to replace the VFD...
Ouch !
I will wait to hear back from Noritake-Itron ...
Don't drop your empeg ...

I'm surprised it's that cheap.

If I was in your position I'd be very very happy at just US$60 for a new VFD. I'm tempted to buy a spare just in case. I'm also a little concerned about the vacuum leaking and the display fading. I have a few VCRs that have had this problem.

I'm more worried about the empeg equivalent of 12:00 disease on a VCR. Annoying as hell when people don't program the time and it just sits there blinking 12:00 all day and slowly wearing out those particular elements in the VFD.

Thanks. I don't know why when I try to do url links it comes out wrong it looked right but I didn't check this time. Does url=link /url (w/appropiate brackets added) not work, what's the correct way?
I know nothing of UBBCode.

Thanks but that's exactly the way I did it url=link /url (I'd put the brackets around it but then it shows up blank.

if you dont want a nice little header like "Yahoo" then just paste the link, the bbs will auto format it, without you having to worry about the proper formats.

That would be cool. A color VFD or even LCD would be *it*.
But, I think the empeg was only designed for 4 levels of control.. so sure, you could, but I don't think the interface could do more than 3 colors and off.
Anyone have the spec on the interface for the display?

I did get the replacement display from Noritaki Itron.
It was their last unit. They got it from an engineers lab bench in Japan.
I was not able to buy a spare...
They will not be making any more of these units unless someone orders 100 or more.

Uh-oh...I hope that carsupport still have a few then, or that they are producing a suitable pin compatible replacement that can be easily retrofitted. Otherwise I predict the next big hardware project will be a complete replacement display unit.

At least the minimum order quantity is 100. It could have been much worse and then it would never be viable.
Group buy of VFDs?
