Hello,
I have just recently installed Red Hat Linux 7.3 on my system and I am relatively new to the linux scene. Here's the problem: I can hear sound in KDE and on any multimedia files I play, but when I go to play XMame (with the GXMAME Frontend), it will not play any sound in the games. How can I determine what /dev/ file(?) my sound is being emitted from. If it helps, I have a Chaintech 7AJA/100 Motherboard with onboard sound.
Thanks in advance,
Justin

I'm not an expert on Linux, but if I recall correctly, the problem is that MAME needs a certain extra sound-generation library to be installed before it'll make sounds. Dig around in the MAME documentation for information on what library it needs.
