Ok.... so everytime I boot my player now it attempts to rebuild the database. So I'm trying to get to a shell prompt to fix what ever it is thats bugging this thing.... However in hyperterm I don't get the chance to hit "q" before the database rebuild occurs... after the database rebuild it's unresponsive to commands through hyperterm. I have the latest developer image and hijack installed. I've been digging around the FAQ and other then using the disk utility and starting over (which I'd rather not do) I don't know what else to do.

I should also add that when I try to connect via emplode I get timed out at the "checking media" stage of syncing.

Sanity check - have you tried syncing it again?

I think I was editing while you replied! yes I've tried just about everything.... it just started timing out during the check media part... before that it would rebuild the database with every sync....

Sounds like there's something wrong with the hyperterminal settings, and that's why doing the Q doesn't work. Try doing the terminal work on a different computer with a different cable. And triple-check the hyperterminal settings as illustrated in the FAQ.

yeah... I messed around with this thing for over 3 hours... before trying a different terminal software... which seems to be working fine.... Strange thing is I'd saved the hyperterm session and been using it for months with no issues. Then again I did just get a new usb keyboard?
