One feature that I personally would find useful would be the ability to Append "Switch to Tuner", to a playlist from the front panel. This would mean that when the playlist finshed, the radio would be automatically engaged.

I find that I typically append playlists at convenient points (like at traffic lights), so that I don't have to play with the player too much while driving. There are situations when I want to finish listening to a playlist and then switch to the radio at the end of the playlist. This doesn't always coincide with a convenient point while driving, as such this would be a useful feature.

A second tuner/playlist request would be for the tuner to continue working while I browse the playlists, until a playlist/track is selected and ready for play. This again would prevent periods of silence/car noise, while driving through towns etc.

Thanks

This fits in with another idea that was brought up before. The idea was to completely remove the idea of the tuner "presets" and instead treat them like free-form playlists. Tough to implement, though, because of some of the architecture choices in the software.

Mmm.. cool idea that.

How about a Hijack feature to allow defining a custom button macro for execution whenever Hijack notices a playlist has terminated.. ? Not sure if I can teach hijack to correctly detect a terminated playlist, but.. something like this:

[ir_translate]
no_playlist=Tuner

??

Or... You could have a special tune on the empeg with a recognizable name, and when Hijack detects from the "notify" output that this song is starting, it performs a button combination? This would be a *Very* powerful feature... could change to tuner, could change EQ or volume etc...

I don't see why you couldn't screen scrape the "End of Playlist" message? The issue would be ignoring it at the appropiate moment during player startup.

You could have a special tune on the empeg with a recognizable name, and when Hijack detects from the "notify" output that this song is starting, it performs a button combination?

I think that if we want tunes to to send commands to Hijack, the appropriate place for such commands is in the COMMENTS field of the tune (if I recall correctly, the comments do appear in the notify). That way, we could have special-purpose tunes that do certain things, OR we could just tag regular tunes with special commands.

I've already discussed this idea with Genixia privately (a long long time ago), but I'll throw out some examples of things you might put in the Comments field that could command Hijack:

{Hijack:Bass=+3}
{Hijack:Treble=-4}
{Hijack:EQPreset=7}
{Hijack:VolAdj=Med}
{Hijack:InsertFid=1af3}
{Hijack:AppendFid=3dc1}
{Hijack:PowerOff}
{Hijack:SelectTuner}

Some of those things could apply to just that one tune. For instance, imagine that you have one song where you want the bass boosted, but then have it go back to normal after that tune is done playing.

Or you could have a particular song set up so that when THAT song comes on, Hijack automatically inserts a certain song after it no matter what. (Useful for song pairs that work well together or that flow into each other.)

There are all sorts of possibilities. It could almost be a scripting language... HMMMM....

Also remember that you can group-select tunes in emplode and apply comments to the group. So if you want to boost the bass on a specific album, it's easy to do.

Is Mark reading this forum, or do we have to move it to Programming?

Simple: the End-Of-PlaylList message only appears on the Track-Info visual, not all of the others. Cannot rely on it.
