! mp3_decoder.cpp :1049:Failed to find valid sync after seeking to offset 3195

484, error=0xc0044000
Found this message in Hyperterminal while connected to empeg on COM1. It was the last thing to appear in the entire boot process. empeg runs perfectly fine, though.

Mk2a / 2b13 / Hijack v298 / genixia's latest script from this thread.

Any ideas?

I've had this on one of my units for about 4-6 months, and never paid it any attention. Not sure what the deal is though; I don't hear / see any problems.

It is a normal diagnostic message and it does not indicate an error. In theory, it should be removed in the next software relase.

Oh, okay. Thanks.

And since your reading, could you explain this to me?
EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended
That popped up when I mounted /proc read-write in order to use the ftp procedure for updating Hijack.

There is a FAQ entry in the Troubleshooting section with extreme details on that exact message.

I didn't put the other message in the FAQ because I knew it would disappear from the software eventually. But the e2fsck message has a FAQ entry for it.

I went through the steps listed in the FAQ that you mentioned... and I still get the same error when I mount something (in this case /programs0) read-write. I triple-checked each command before hitting Enter... what gives?

It's possible that it has something to do with Genixia's script. I don't know. The text in the FAQ was assembled for me (I'm not clear on how it works), and it was meant for a "stock" player, not for one modded with a nonstandard init.

Gee, I hope not. But come to think of it, the first time I mounted /programs0 read-write that didn't happen. So I must have messed something up later. Would reapplying the 2b13 developer image remove any changes I've made, including Hijack / preinit / genixia's script?

Yes, in theory.

Yes, in theory.

[sarcasm] That makes me feel a whole lot better; thank Tony. [/sarcasm]

Well, as far as I can tell, this message isn't affecting the player's operation. But then, I don't know anything about Linux - I was just following commands exactly.

I guess I'll try reapplying 2b13.

Ahh...it looks like you rebooted your player with /programs0 mounted rw.

Type: fsck /dev/hda2 at a shell prompt.

I need to modify the N10mount script to check for cleanliness.

That did it. Thanks a bunch.
