I've tried to open emplode, but it won't find the player on USB or serial. It just started doing this. I think the problem might be with my computer (win98) and not the player, but maybe someone can help.



Booting the player while connected to Hyperterminal results in this:

The warnings from the player are basically that you have reached the pre-configured maximum number of times you mounted the filesystem without a check. It is asking you to run fsck to clear it. You can either follow the FAQ entry, or perform a sync through emplode. Either will clear it.

The error 19 & 6 are normal and are nothing to worry about.

As to the keyboard driver error, it sounds like your system is a bit confused. Check your com port settings in logoedit - you might be sending to a com port that doesn't exist. Also, if you are doing something strange with plug and play (forcing values, etc.) your keyboard might be tied into the "standard" com port values. That is the only thing I can think of that would do that kind of thing. Doublecheck your settings in logoedit to verify which com port you are using.

Also, can you get to the empeg with hyperterminal??? (edit) Obviously you can. Did you have hyperterminal open when you tried logoedit? Also make certain the settings from hyperterminal and logoedit match.

I checked the com port settings, and it is set on the right one. The setting in LogoEdit is com1 which is what hyperterminal says it is on, too. I tried LogoEdit with Hyperteminal open and Logoedit by itself, but it does the same thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by plug and play and forcing values. I don't really know much about this stuff, but I try not to mess with anything unless I know what I'm doing, so if I'm doing it then I don't know about it!

My computer is always crashing and I constantly have to pull the plug on it to restart it, and for some reason I have a feeling that that has something to do with this.

That keyboard driver message is so weird that I can only suggest that your PC might have a virus. Are you running an up-to-date virus scanner?

Hmm... Possible. Another thought - what version of Windows are you running? 386eng in system.ini sounds like Win95 or lower. You might want to try and download another copy of logoedit - maybe you have a corrupted download. Has it ever worked?

I would not be surprised if I had a virus. Over the last couple of weeks the computer will just randomly pop up with the infamous blue crash screen, but you can't read anything it says. The characters are like scrambled/blurred, and there's nothing you can do but pull the plug,

I didn't even think windows 98 used the system.ini files anymore. I thought that was registry...

Basically, running setup would either reinstall the operating system or reconfigure it. Either way, it is probably something that you do not want to do lightly.

Any luck with a fresh copy of logoedit? Have you rebooted the box?

If in the past the icon was there, and now it's not, thats a potential sign that BugBear has infected your system. Aparently it tries to kill off anti-virus programs, as well as firewall programs. Try this and see if it finds anything relating to the BugBear worm.

Alright, I don't know what it was, but it works now. It's weird because it wouldn't connect to Emplode the last couple of days (before I posted this thread), but now Emplode works and so does LogoEdit. I ran that program that you linked to, Drakino, and it didn't find bugbear, so I don't know what it was. But it works now. Thanks for the help everyone.
