Not convinced by this product based on what is says on Rio web site.
I am very interested in this kind of product (over and above the empeg car, and I've just ordered my second one), but 'they' (rio) say it runs on standard phone lines. All my phones are DECT and therefore have only 1 phone socket in my house and all my ethernet is wireless.
Hopefully this wont turn out to be a major limitation in what should be a great product.
Did anyone get a chance to get more info at the MP3 Summit???

Phil

I could be wrong but I don't think you would need more than the one set of phone wires. It says it won't affect phone service so it probably uses a modulated frequency higher than the the telephone service uses, which isn't much. It sounds like it might be using something like (or actually) the home networking standard.

The Rio receiver isn't even close to the empeg for features, portability, etc. But since you are on empeg number 2 you probably already know that!

Maybe I didn't explain properly. I only have one phone socket in my house, no extensions no cabling no nothing, just the one that comes in from the telco. All handsets are digital wireless affairs as is networking. The phone cable for the one socket runs under the floor into a cupboard - I was going for a minimalist look!
10BaseT would be great (for me at least) but maybe not Joe Public?

The Rio Receiver at the summit had both 10-base-T and HomePNA 2.0.

The software was very similar in many ways to the empeg-car. Strange, that. ;)

Oh, man! I saw one of those systems in a high-end audio store. Pretty high-tech stuff, dude! Do you have those sylized handsets too?
