One might wonder if a normal chainsaw wouldn't cut as quickly if as much force were put behind it.

I guess the speed and strength are the factors. Not just the ability of the engine, but how strong the actual chain part is. If you go too fast, it could break.

Or at least that's what I would assume.

No. It wouldn't.

How fast the chainsaw will cut is in direct proportion to how much energy can be supplied to the cutting edge (in this case, the chain) and that energy comes from horsepower.

If you took a two-horsepower chainsaw, and put 400 pounds of downward force on the cutting bar, it would simply stall and refuse to cut anything at all.
