All plays counters reset to zero

Hi Guys,
Lastnight i ran the fsck because i hadn't ran it for about 6months.
These are the commands i typed, found from the faq
ro
umount /dev/hda4
umount /dev/hdc4
swapon /swapfile
fsck -fay /
fsck -fay /dev/hda4
fsck -fay /dev/hdc4
swapoff /swapfile
sync
Then today when i went to my car to drive to work, i noticed that all the songs had zero in the plays counter. I have a favorites shuffle mode setup, and i just loaded up all my tunes, every song has zero as the plays counter. I had songs with upwards of 50 plays.
Can anyone explain what happened?

Nope. There's nothing wrong with those commands. The play counts are kept on /dev/hda3, so as long as your /swapfile symlink is OK (and it should be), there's nothing you did there that could screw up the dynamic data partition.

You could play some songs upwards of 50 times each

LMAO! Yeah, i'm trying, its very annoying to see Plays: 0, after i spent 2+ months listening to my empeg everyday with the Down-Down-Down playlist selected on random.

Well, you know, it takes up about 25 horixontal pixels on a 128 horizontal pixel display. That's nearly one-fifth of the horizontal screen space for something that I can't imagine anyone really cares enough about to want to see on that screen.
At the very least, put it on the lower line, where there's almost always going to be enough space, even with two time displays and the playlist number indicator. The play/pause icon might need to obscure it temporarily while it's displaying.
Even better, give us a user-formattable display.

IIRC, there's a messages file you can edit, but that leaves the actual number, not to mention that it's just dumb for it to be there.

I actually like the plays counter, but moving it to the lower line would be perfect.
Another silly counter i would like to see added is a 'total powered' counter, this would tell you how long the empeg has played music for. So you could select it, and see My empeg has been used for 97 weeks 4 days 20min 31seconds. Or something like that Granted it wouldn't be an actual total, because every unit is pretty much used by now.

I don't have a problem with the counter being there. I have a problem with it being displayed in such a prominent fashion. If I really cared, I could go to the (fabled*) info screen, which is where it should be.
* ``fabled'' because I don't have a Rio remote, so I can't get to it. At least not without some hijack stuff.

As long as we're redesigning the display format... someone made this suggestion a long time ago and I think it is an excellent idea:
In the "Now and Next", and the "Track" display modes, move the bottom line up to the top line of the screen keeping the same small font presently used for the playlist counters. (Then move the "Plays" information onto that line as well.)
That would solve the problem of the shape of the fascia blocking the top left portion of the screen, because the area blocked would either be blank, or not anythng of pressing importance, and it would keep the time counter from blocking out portions of two of the lines in Now and Next.

I like that idea. Also I normally keep my player on Track, and I'm starting to see Plays: burned into the display. I vote for it to go away.

Yea, I agree too, or at least have the option to turn it off.
