Some friends and I might be interested in organizing a meet but I wanted to gauge interest before I dedicated any real time to the idea... The state choices refer to where you live. If there is heavy interest in one state or another we would try to consider that in choosing a location.

Right now the greatest amount of interest is from outside what I considered driving distance for the meet. Are you guys (and girls, all two of you) planning to fly? If you are I'm going to take airports into consideration on location. Personally I'm just happy that the choice of "No, can anything good come from South Carolina" is no longer winning the poll.

The poll is bringing up an interesting question. Is there an empeg in the entire state of Kentucky? And does the answer to that question really suprise anyone?

I am a meet whore. I will drive to any meet (within reason). If I can't drive, I will fly.

I know South Carolina is within driving distance; I drove to Florence in 1996 with my then-not-yet-wife in her car (which was aging poorly, and almost overheated on the WV Turnpike on the way back) when my best friend from high school got married.

In general, I prefer not to fly anywhere, London and Stockholm notwithstanding. I took the train to San Diego at this time last year; I'd do it again, too.

I think LISA 2003 is in San Diego at about this time next year, so I know I'll be there then (sans car).

Mark Morrow and his wife are from Kentucky, they were at the Cincinnati meet, remember I might be willing to drive to Tennessee for a meet if it's around Gatlinburg depending on when it is. There will be another meet here next September.

I lived in Texas and in Oklahoma which are not, whether they want to be or not, southern. Texas is a geographic region in and of itself and Oklahoma is its suburb.

However this is not the reason that I did not include them. I didn't include them because they and Arkansas were outside of easy driving distance and would fall under the road trip choice.

I am organizing a worldwide meet. I figure the best centrally located place would be either the North or South Pole. If we go South, then the scientists in Antartica can join us, but the North Pole has a much higher neato-factor. So what would you prefer, North or South, and would you be going by boat, plane, chopper, jet pack, or hot-air balloon?

I'll excuse Florida being included, even though Florida (like Texas) is more of a region in and of itself.

Louisiana was for the same reason....and like the others would be included in the "not the area your looking at, but I'm up for a road trip" choice.
