I dont know if anyone has suggested this or not but I feel it would be used..

A screen saver mode. A mode where the normal text is displayed when a song starts.. and then after X amount of seconds the player will switch to my chosen graphic visual or even blank itself until the next song starts.

Would anyone else use this feature?

Screen Blanker is a function of Hijack. As for visuals... I leave my player in Transient Info mode most of the time, and use the Restore Visuals feature of Hijack to keep it there.

Yeah, like DeadFire said... Info:Transient is what you're describing.

I think by ``normal text'', he means what you'd see under Track info mode. So that's not quite it, but that's as close as he's getting now. (Not to say that it's not a reasonable wish.)

So the idea would be to have it switch from Info: Text to a visual after a certain amount of time, rather than instantly as the Restore Visuals feature of Hijack does? I can understand why someone might want that. But in my case, I know where all of my music came from, and so I rarely need to check the Info: Text screen in order to learn something about the song that's currently playing. I'm perfectly happy with either Screen Blanker or Restore Visuals.

I like the idea. All it would require is a timeout setting for hijack right?

I do mean the Track Info mode..sorry if I was not more clear. I normally use whatever my favorite graphic mode is when I am in the car, but find myself many times switching back and forth at times. I dont know why but sometimes I just have to see what album a song is from, or what year it came out, or even how many times the song has played.

To me, if the Info mode were displayed I could satisfy my curiousity.. and then have it switch back to transient graphics mode after X amount of seconds.

This would have to be a deliberate choice as I understand, just like the graphic mode is now.. for liability reasons but thats fine with me.

You do realize that you can switch back and forth by holding down the `down' button for a second or two, right?

Yes, that's exactly what I do, too.

I leave it in "Info: Transient" all the time, and when I want to see the details of a given track, I press and hold the bottom button to toggle it back to Info:Track mode.

Note that in order for this to work, your last two info modes must have been Track and Transient. Sometimes you need to specifically select those two from the main menu to get it working this way.

AvatarTX, does that do what you want it to do?

I have mine setup similar (track details on volume knob press)
but it would be nice if you could have hijack display the details of a song for XX seconds before swapping back to visual mode. I end up hitting the volume knob to see the details for MANY songs and hey, it could save my volume knob's life!!

Along those lines, I often use three display modes most often. Info Off, Info Track, and Info Line. So, it seems possible to binary toggle between two of them using volume know press-and-hold as well as down press-and-hold (assuming the 1.03 that I'm using).

Would it be possible to set button:down press-and-hold to binary toggle between Info:last-used and Info Off and then have volume know press-and-hold to toggle between Info Track and Info Line? Having those two binary toggles would give me the three toggles that I'm looking for. Do-able? With HiJack's reprogramable buttons?

Thats what I am wanting it to do, but I would rather not have to touch anything at all. To me it would be no big deal to code, would it not just be another setting.. display text for X amount of seconds and then display whatever graphic visual the player is set at?
