i just downloaded the newest version right now... and i must say, the rendering of web pages is so much faster than before. didnt think that was possible. it does one of IE's tricks... displaying the text then the images afterwards.

I've been using opera 6 for some time now and love it. The page tabbing feature is so useful, as is the mouse gestures. I'm not sure about Opera 7 as the hotlist appears in the browser window. I dont use the hotlist so much, just the dropdown lists. Is this still the case with the final release?

OMG. i've been playing w/ opera7 a little bit more.. theres a bug where you minimze a window doesnt hide the window in the page tab.

Contact support. I'm sure they'll be interested.

I've used it a couple years ago with version 4. I found it quite ergonomic. A lot a people didn't like the MDI but I found it nice especially when you could save all these when upon exiting. It's kind of like what they say about the VI editor: If you actually try to use it for more than 5 minutes, you'd come to love it.

However, for transactional type stuff, it's kinda of spotty. You of have to go back to IE for this, especially with Banks and the like. Also the settings for managing cookies, java, and scripting was "all or nothing".
IE is much better than Opera or Mozilla in this regard. Has that gotten since better since 4.X?

As others have said. Opera would be great if "everyone would just adhere to the standards". Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be likely in the near future.

It's good if all you want to do is just read articles and forums.

Sure you didn't mix them up...? Because with IE it is all or nothing. With Opera you can select "Yes/no, I want to accept/refuse cookies from this server/domain" or "Accept, but throw away when closing Opera". Opera 5 was better than 4 and 6 was much better than 5. And with 7 I have to use IE even less than before, even though 7 still has some bugs...

Yeah, I shouldn't have added cookies in that list although IE 6.0 now has different levels of cooking blocking but that is clearly not as good as domain filtering as you have to set it to medium-low to do anything.

I guess I was thinking mainly of the Scripting permisions.

I may give Opera 7.0 a try. The Wand Password Manager looks nice.

The wand was one of the first things I disabled... I prefer to have passwords in either my internal brain or my external brain (AKA Palm Vx)... I also found a skin with the original look of Opera 6 instead of the shitty XP-look..
