w/ the latest official firmware and music manager (1.60), some of the songs i've uploaded have a bit of the begining cut off when played from the device. i'm sure that the mp3s are not corrupted (mp3trim) and only have id3v2 tags. i haven't had time to re-upload the songs in question... so i can't say that its random just yet.

btw, isn't there forums somewhere for the rio portable players line where this post would be more appropriate?

Perhaps I am just spoiled by this forum, but I think I will continue to ask / answer S50 questions over here... So, when are they coming out with a 1GB SD card??? (Just kidding - my next portable purchase will be a Pearl. Will that be disk upgradable? The 80s should be out by then...)

The empeg guys answer questions there, too. I forget exactly who UK SB Engineer is, but it's someone you know. I think Hugo posts occasionally, too, but under a different handle.

I think it's actually Hugo because of this post. I've been considering getting a S50 so I was looking around on the Rio portables bit and found that. I think I'm going to wait for the Pearl now anyway.

I would hold out for a Pearl. The S50 is very nice, don't get me wrong, and it is great for what I wanted it for. But the Pearl really looks great! I just hope it will be upgradable, so I can drop a bigger disk in.

I refer the right honourable gentleman to the answer given earlier.

Just in case anybody is wondering, the size of a 2.5" laptop IDE drive is roughly 10cm by 7cm with a varying height depending on the drive. (So that's a no then )

I think it's actually Hugo because of this post.

I love the replies from the bloke who thinks that "UK" are his initials...

That would certainly appear to be the case. Pity...

No, ask them at rioworld - for one thing it's on topic, and for another it would be great to see some ummmm let's say empeg owner calibre questions

To answer the question, the S Series isn't as gapless as the empeg codebase players - although I believe we got it substantially better than other Sigmatel players out there.

We'll continue working on it - the car player got a lot better over time as well.
