I just put a second drive in my empeg. The first drive was full. Obviously, the new drive was empty.

Now, a good portion (I'd say at least half) of the time, when I upload new music, emplode fils to upload a single song, claiming that the drive is too near capacity. This song is never the first song. When I go back and re-add the song, it works fine.

I'd be happy, personally, to move files around to even out the distribution, not that the problem shouldn't be fixed. (I realize that it's potentially outside the scope of traditional support, but it feels like a one-liner.)

What are the restrictions on moving files between the two drives, if any?

There are no restrictions. Any *0 or *1 fid can live on either drive; nothing in the player will get confused if you move stuff from one fids directory to the other.

To be perfectly clear, not even matching *0 and *1 files need be on the same drive, right?

Does a synchronization need to occur after this, or does the player itself know to look in both places?

I'm wondering if it'd be useful for Bitt to just leave it as-is... in case you want to try to fix it at the Emplode or Player level before 2.0 final... (to have him test it)

Right.

The player looks in both places every time. You don't need to sync.

Oooh, good thinking Batman. At the very least, Bitt, could you let me know exactly how much space you've got left ("df /drive0 ; df /drive1")? I'm not sure I'll get round to sending custom builds out, though; unless there's something obviously wrong with the disk-full code, I'm very uninclined to meddle with it at this stage of the game. In normal use it's effectively impossible to have one drive full and the other empty.

I agree, and, as such, it's not a big bug. I just thought I'd report it for completeness's sake.

I don't have a proper serial cable here, unfortunately, so it'll have to wait 'til I get home.
