Lost USB connectivity

Hello all,
A week ago, I installed the USB support on a Win 98 box and downloaded some songs. Then, I went on vacation and when I came back, I cannot get emplode to recognize the empeg. It does work through the serial port.
This is on 0.96 RC1 and a developer's kernel.
Now, at home, I use Ethernet and at work I use (or at least want to) USB. Will this confuse things? I don't know what else might be wrong...
Thanks,
Mark

Using different interfaces (serial, USB, ethernet) to the empeg won't cause a problem (as long as you don't try to use them at the same time).
While on the subject, you ought to upgrade to v1. It doesn't have any USB fixes in it, per se, but there's a heap of other good stuff in it.
emplode can be a bit finicky. Did you hit refresh a couple of times? Does the empeg-car appear in Device Manager?
Failing that, reinstalling the empeg USB driver can help.

I ran the tests at boot time and USB passed: 0500 usb detect 0510 usb rev 1012 05f0 usb ok ... 00f0 tests complete
It hung after testing everything. Is that normal?
In the normal boot log, it says:
empeg usb initialised, PDIUSBD12 id 1012

Ah, then this is a problem with the USB driver on the unit, or on the PC. At this point, I'll have to bow to Mike's superiour knowledge.

How? I ran the emplode setup program.
Yes. That's the simplest way to reinstall the USB driver. You may want to try uninstalling it first, then reinstalling it.

What exactly got it working? A de-install and re-install of Emplode?
Sorry to raise the alarm...
Don't be sorry- this is important information. For instance, if simply re-installing Emplode didn't fix the problem, then perhaps Empeg should look at modifying the InstallShield script so that the USB driver is force-replaced on every installation?

Sighhhhhhhhhhh,
This falls under embarrasingly stupid category. Since there was not a lot of room to maneuver while plugging in the USB cable, I assumed that what I was plugging it into was the USB connection (which it wasnt -- it was the ethernet connection). When I unplugged everything, turned it around and plugged the USB cable in first, it worked.
I guess the stupid user syndrome can even affect me...
I'd crawl back under a rock, but I'm trying to develop programs for it and have got other questions to ask ^_^'
