I seem to be having a small problem with my MKl display today. When I turned it on, I noticed a small black square in the lower right hand corner, enough that it cuts off part of the bootup Tux and the time remaining on a song.

Any ideas what it could be? The rest of the display is fine and it was fine a few days ago when I last played it.

Weird. Has the Empeg been knocked or dropped recently? The VFD fill nipple is near that spot.

I moved it to another location but I was very careful with it and never dropped or knocked it hard. If it was the fill nipple I would think the whole display would be dead. I guess I'll have to open it up and take a look for anything it might be.

Problem solved. It turned out to be a small piece of black plastic or film that was originally attached to the back of the lens that had dropped down into the corner of the display. I went ahead and replaced the lens and all is well.

I do wonder what that piece is for.

Infrared filter, so sunlight doesn't set off the IR. You might want to glue it back in place somehow. Not sure how (to make it look good).

Thanks for letting me know. Moving it around must have loosened it but I have a few spare lenses. Maybe Rob would know of a good way to attach it back on.

We used a dab of superglue.
