Before I upgraded to the non-beta v2 release, I'm sure when I held the left or right buttons on the front of the empeg, it searched for another station. Now nothing happens when I hold the buttons down. It seems to still work on the remote though.

Also, what is the AF debugging screen meant to show, as I tried it on BBC R1,R2 & R4 and nothing happened.

Phil.

Mmm.. similar finding here: press-and-hold on the front panel LEFT/RIGHT does nothing in Tuner mode for me.

And the same with the RioRemote: press-and-hold on prev/next track also does nothing in Tuner mode.

???

I found the same thing with all three inputs (front panel, Rio remote, and stalk).

I'll try reproducing this without Hijack next week. (Bug me if I don't follow up to this!)

I noticed the same thing as well; long left/right presses on the empeg (or the remote) don't initiate a freq. search.

Also, I've tried (via presets) BBC - Radio Berks / Radio Oxford / R1 / R2 and nothing on the AF debug display so far (but I've not stayed in tuner mode long enough to _really_ say something's broken there).

FWIW, one thing I did observe is that after a long press (in tuner mode, i.e. freq. search) the empeg is momentarily busy after the button is released, perhaps for about 0.5 seconds.

Edit: 2.0/HJ324

Confirmed on a stock 2.00-final install.

Btw... I've uploaded a stock 2.00final kernel to the hijack site, so that one can just replace kernels to switch between hijack and non-hijack, rather than having to redo the upgrade each time.

Cheers

Hi everybody. Always a pleasure to read you all, even though it's been a while since my last post.

Just wanted to mention that I noticed another problem with 2.00 final: while in tuner mode, empeg sometimes locks and does not respond to any button click or remote control command. Any other occurency of this?

Not quite like that...but as I mentioned above the name of the station seems to 'corrupt' if the signal weakens. For radio 1 I've has Sadio 1, Radiof1 and a host of others I can't remember off the top of my head. Region is set to Europe.

I think it's normal to see corrupt RDS when signal is weak (I get a similar effect on my home stereo if the aerial falls down). I think there is some (weak) checksum in the RDS stream, though, so the player should ignore corrupted strings once it's got a valid one... (does it?)

Something it could do is attempt to build up the text from successive corrupted strings - once you have three versions of the text, you can use a voting algorithm on each character to decide what (if anything) to display in that position.

BTW, it would be nice if it didn't restart the RadioText line everytime the text changes, but allow the old line to complete first. It's a bit irritating when the signal is poor and it keeps restarting.

Ok, after a couple of days of testing with 329+, I had this: no lock ups until last night, when all at the sudden the player did not accept any more remote control commands. Than it would delay responding to buttons on the empeg itself (trying to change preset on the radio), and eventually locked completely. The radio would still work and be loud and clear, but I could not do anything but pulling the empeg out of the sled. Not even switch it off.
This had never happened in last months before I installed v. 2.00 final + Hijack 329, and I've been using the radio daily so far.

I am going to try with 2.00 final without hijack and let you know.

Edit: I see Hijack 330 is out, so I'll try that first

I had the same problem - then I installed Hijack v330 and it stopped happening.

V2.00
Hijack 3.30

Nope no joy here. Still the same problem. AF debugger only worked once too. Now 'no AF is available' everytime.

Same problem here. With 330 player stopped locking up, but the AF problem came up.
Discussing in this thread in the general forum

It seems the problem is not with HiJack. I haven't tried without Hijack, anyway.

Right click on the Empeg fascia button returns the unit to previous source during a traffic broadcast -very useful, I don't think it did that before.

Not sure about left click, try it at lunchtime!

L/R hold does nothing, as per other posters.

Was there ever a workaround figured out for this one? I just upgraded to 2.0 final and am experiencing the same problem. Unfortunately the remote on my player has never worked so I can't use that to tune the radio. (I didn't bother to get it fixed when I had the chance :-( ). And I hadn't gotten around to setting up presets. (I only just started using the radio regularly).

Yesterday I accidentally hit one of the right/left buttons in radio mode which switched to the default station and now I have no way to switch it back. Is there any way to change stations without the remote?

You can fix the Left/Right buttons with Hijack ir_translate codes: use the codes from the Kenwood Remote for this, as they're the only ones that work right now. There's a thread elsewhere here where tfabris (I think) figured all that out.

In the meanwhile, the Hijack knob (short press) popup menu has a "KnobSeek" function for much easier manual tuning of the radio.

Cheers
