I noticed my docking connector on the back of the empeg unit was slightly loose, unscrewed by about 1mm.. is this normal? or am i just paranoid.

Same here.. my guess was that this was deliberate, to allow some flexibility in seating onto the car connection.

All full-pull-out stereos have that feature. Sometimes the wiggly part (technical term) is on the sleeve instead of the stereo.

This might make another good addition to the FAQ. When I first unpacked my empeg I thought the connector had just come loose during shipping. I realized it was probably intentional after I tried to tighten the screws and found they were already fully tightened.
