I can see that when a file is loaded into Winamp (2.8x), the playlist editor wil read the tags and display the artist and track title. Is there any way to chose what gets displayed here? I mean, sometimes I'm listening to multiple albums from one artist, and would like album info as well. Can I do that?

Dude,

Go to preferences, select Plugins, then inputs, find the mp3 decoder plugin and select configure. Select the Title tab and then you can change what's displayed. You may have to reload your playlist to see the change.

Peace out...

On another note : winamp 2.9 got released this week. That's right : 2.9, not 3.x. (there probably never will be another 3.x release, they'll jump straight to 5.x which is due this summer. 5.x should have the best of 2 and 3)
2.9 incorporates a few of the nifty things of 3.x like the Media Library and video playback, along with extended plug-in support.

Get it here.

Don't bother with 3.0, it's slow, crashes more than 2.x and has some missing features. A key missing feature is that you can no longer draw URLs from webpages to WinAmp, which is a feature I use all the time.

2.90 is another great step forward.

Yeah, I'd heard that, which is why I hadn't upgraded. Cool to see 2.9 being available, I'm gonna have to check that out.

Yeah, 3.0 certainly did suck. That's why I've held on to 2.83 for so long.

I've got to hand it to the folks over there, though. They have always continued to maintain an entire site for 2.x versions of Winamp in addition to their 3.x site, and it was easy to switch back and forth between them with that link on the top right corner. They could have pushed 3.x on us and discontinued support for 2.x, but they didn't.

Of course, it almost seems like they always thought "gee, this Winamp 3 really sucks. We'd better keep 2 up and running so we don't fall out of the game".

Anyways, thanks Andy, I'll try that.

Yeah - I agree 3.0 sucks. two of the features I like most in 2 that 3 doesn't have:

Exporting playlist to html (easy way to show off what you have on your peg)
Resuming last song played when winamp starts (I hate how in winamp 3 it always starts at the top of the playlist.)

I used 3.0 for a short while and have now switched back to 2.9.

I've got another issue with the display of the playlist editor. I'm currently using my player like this:

Unfortunately, when the editor is closed like that, the words don't scroll like they do in the main player window. Is there a way to get that to happen?
