Many thanks to Tony et al for the excellent drive upgrade instructions. After a dry run last week to make sure I knew exactly what to do, I had my new 30Gb drive up and running just over thirty minutes after it arrived on my doorstep this morning. It's (hopefully) sitting at home right now transferring all the stuff that wouldn't fit on there before. I've got a long trip to make tomorrow, so the timing is absolutely perfect :-)
Thanks again for all the work creating & maintaining the FAQ.
Steve.

Congrats!
I'll take this time to also say that the Drive Upgrade Guide that Tony maintains and countless others have contributed to is wonderful! I've done at least a dozen upgrades and it would have been impossible without that Guide.
Those of you who havn't checked it out recently should do so - Tony has been busy adding every bit of relevant information that has come up regarding drive upgrades.

The FAQ covers the whole process in such great detail even a monkey could attempt a drive upgrade and succeed. It's absolutely brilliant, pretty much like the whole of riocar.org. A job well done lads...

I didn't realize how great it was until I visited some other sites looking for tutorials (not related to the empeg) and came back disappointed.

Yup - count me in as one happy monkey. Added a 40 to my 20 last week. It took about 30 minutes, and after watching me do it, my brother got me to take his to bits to reseat the drive cable, although he may end up having to get a new cable - it seemed fine.
Piece of cake (even though I knew I didn't have the right jumper...I lost the one I was keeping for the job. Well, they are very small)
Next development - lit buttons. I reckon Brian doesn't have me on his list, so I'm watching the various threads on the topic.

Sorry to rehash an old thread, but I two wanted to thank the author of the drive upgrade manual. Its my B-day today, so I got a new drive from my girlfriend (how special is that). I took the day off work, enjoyed the 70+ (24C) weather, and had a couple beers with my unemployed friends.
Not that I would recommend this, but the upgrade instructions are easy enough to follow even with a decent buzz. Thanks Tony!!
Now a modest 32G.

Another thanks to Tony. My 10 gig just got 40 extra gigs. With the HD upgrade manual, it made it a piece of cake.

kudo's It's been a while....
First, as we've all stated before, using an apostrophe is not the proper way to make something plural.
Second, ``kudos'' is not plural. It's a singular Greek word.

6, maybe 7 days?

No, there's a guy named kudo. It's like e e cummings crossed with Sting. One name, all lowercase.

Hey, thanks you guys. I'm glad it was helpful.
And to re-iterate, it couldn't have happened without the cooperation of the experts in Cambridge and the people on this BBS. I'm just the guy who typed in the HTML.
