Since I'm in the preparation of finaly getting my hands on an Empeg, here's a thougth that I had last night (and it kept me awake for some time).
I own a Alfa Romeo 146 JTD 1.9. Whenever I start the engine my current carradio (which is on permanent power) stops for a split second. I could imagine this "feature" doesn't agree with a computerbased system. Does someone outhere have any experience with anything like this?

The Empeg is designed for use in a car, and all cars do this to the radio. It does not hurt the Empeg, it's made for this kind of thing. The Empeg should just briefly pause while you start the engine, then it will come back and continue playing.

In an extreme case (if your car's voltage drops a lot or if you must crank your engine more than a few seconds), the player might fully reboot instead of just pausing. This still should not hurt the player.

Thanks for your quick response. I really was a bit worried about the power thing, rebooting and all.
I think I'll be back with more questions when I get my toy!! (or as my girlfriend calls it: my unborn baby).

:-( (it can't be long now)

Good. Now that I've allayed your fears, let me point you to a discussion we had about this when the reboot thing didn't work properly for me...

Keep in mind that this was with a Mark 1, which has a worse tolerance for voltage drops than your Mark2 will. I still believe that you will be fine, but in my case a modification with some capacitors was required to get rid of my particular problem. And remember that at no time was my Empeg ever harmed as a result of the problem, it was merely a convenience issue.
