The hard drive is a replaceable component. Nothing else in it seems to particularly have any state other than the the usual digital state: it works or it doesn't.

I have no players to sell you, so I have no self-interest. It's just an observation.

Definately what I was searching for... and at the correct location, but the price is too high .

I would imagine he is open to offers. Make one, you never know. What have you got to lose but an Empeg.

Except it isn't . Its only a sellers market if there are no others for sale cheaper, and if people will pay silly prices! There is a difference between a sellers market, and pricing yourself out of the market totally.

Posting a link to auctions that still have 3 days to run will hardly be representative of pricing. Sure you can go and bid much less on those empegs, but you won't win.

Maybe you should look at Complete Items instead.

Since the last;
10GB went for $600,
30GB ... $710,
60GB ... $975,
asking $800 for a 40GB appears to be totally in line.

Jeremy hasn't always been the most popular person here because he basically bought the remaining stock at the end of the firesale and then the prices hiked. But I think that we all respect the fact that that was his business decision to make, and I believe that everyone who has had dealings with him has had an at least satisfactory experience.

The fact is that there is more demand for these empegs than supply. That makes it a seller's market.

I would like to add that I bought my player from carplayer.com at the beginning of the firesale (when it was unsure if the sonicblue website was actually taking orders) and I was very satisfied with the outcome. Yes, the price is higher. To the complainers: how much is your Empeg worth to you? Would you sell your spare or main unit for less than the amount he is asking for?

Remember, this is still less than the retail price of the Empeg.

He's doing exactly what any smart businessman would do - but something at below market value and then re-sell it later at a markup.

If I had a chance to make a %300 profit by sitting on something for a year I darn sure would.

If no one buys it for $800 then it will eventually sell for less, but that's the way it works. You can't chew a guy out for being shrewd.

For the last month units were in stock on the website the price was $799, and we sold out. The same price is being offered here, if it does not sell, it simply goes on the website.

I thought it would be nice to see if anyone wanted it here first before selling to a random person, adding an item to the order page and waiting a week for them all to be gone is the easy route.

As mentioned above, it is right in line with current eBay prices (of used units).
