I was wondering how far the remote control reaches. Can you stand outside the car and still control the empeg?

On the geek.empeg.com site, Steve Hartman has made a video where it looks like you have to sit directly in front of it!!! I know that this was just to show that it worked, but my question is : Can you stand 10-20 feet away from your car and still control it?

It's a usual remote and works like every other remote.

I already used it from outside of the car. I mounted some audio-things in my trunk and to test them I had the remote and switched the empeg on, adjusted volume etc. Worked all fine. Of course you need a direct line to the empeg without any things (Except glass) between remote and empeg.

Yes, but you can't stand very far away from the car. In my experience, I can control the Empeg from outside the car if I'm pretty close to it (for instance, standing behind the car's trunk).

You need a line of sight to the Empeg through the windows. The windows can be closed, but the glass diffuses the IR signal and reduces the effective range.

it is cool to stand around your car, turning up or searching for tracks while talking to friends. I use my empeg sometimes at the club i coach at and have to get about 15 feet away for it to work. not great if you had to walk across the gym to do it.

Someone commented that the range was pathetic and why didn't i get a better remote? I said that other than any other remote was not supported and normally i'm in my car, barely a foot away from it.

they still didn't get it!
